All the Way Around

My round robin quilt is complete. I put a little bird in a star in a labyrinth square. Sue added two one-inch borders with a checkerboard at the corners. Wanda put birds in each corner and added strips of complementary fabrics. Berte made a house for each bird. Carol framed it with a narrow border and added pale blue to finish it off. The machine quilting is fairly open with flowers and curving lines.

Round Robin Round Five

Sue chose pastel 1930's reproduction prints for her quilt. I added a two-inch border with the same fabric as the inner two-inch border. I think it frames the piece nicely. The final frame is six inches of a light green fabric.

Round Robin Round Four

Here's Wanda's quilt square. My border is made up of small hourglass blocks. That pattern is also called "square in a square" and the Seminole border. I used the dark fabric from the previous border and the lighter fabric from the center. This square now measures 44 inches and will be 60 inches when complete.

Round Robin Round Three

Berte started this quilt by paper piecing and fussy cutting her fabric. Carol added the two inch border. My border neededd to be eight inches wide so I add squares with "wonky"stars. The green strips were added to make the measurements correct.

Round Robin Round 2

Carol made this brightly colored center square. My job was to sew a 2-inch border so I added 1/2 inch of the red dots and 1 1/2 inch yellow. I wanted to set off the center and not detract from it.
