Little Laddie

Well over forty years ago my Aunt Gena sent away to the "Wisconsin Agriculturist and Farmer" for the quilt pattern, Little Laddie. Either she or my mother cut out many pieces of cotton to make laddie's overalls, sleeves, shoes, hat, and hands. Then it sat... for a very long time. Mom gave it to me and I have had it since my son was little. Finally(!) I got it out and decided to do something with it. Instead of making an entire quilt, I appliqued just four of the lads and made a pillow. I did hand-applique and embroidery, and machine quilted in a crosshatch pattern.

  1. That is awesome that Grandma cut out the pieces. Great idea to make a pillow. Do you recognize any of the fabric?

    1. The fabric was new to me. Perhaps it came from Aunt Gena.
