Each time I got ten blocks made, I sewed them into a long row. First I had to make sure they were in the right order to make the pattern. As you can see I alternated the directions of the blocks. To sew them together I matched them up, back to back, making sure the edges were just right. After sewing the blocks together I pressed the seams open on the right side and top stitched on each side of the original seam - three rows of stitching for each seam!
When you sew the first seam, are the right sides together or the wrong sides? I'm trying to envision this. I'll have to take a good look at the final product. I love the pattern.
ReplyDeleteSew the back sides together. Then on the front side, you have the seam allowances. Press these seams open. Then fold the edge under, like a hem. Top-stitch over each "hem". That finishes off the seam on the top of the quilt and also covers the raw edges of the top square. Go it?

Sounds like a foreign language to me. :) Of course I barely know my way around a sewing machine.
