My Can-Can Girl

Wanda gave me a fat quarter of this can-can girl fabric and I thought if would be perfect for the challenge quilt. What a good choice I made! All the fabrics in this quilt were selected to complement her colors. It is bright and cheery. I quilted it around all the 5x8 inch squares and then straight horizontal lines. All done!

Borders on the Blocks

Each of the 25 blocks gets borders: one that is 4" wide and three that are 1". Now they are all 10" square. I chose two soft blues and two soft greens to help to calm down and cool off all those bright colors.

Twenty-Five Blocks

Here is the 25th and final block for my challenge quilt. Each one was definitely a challenge! This one used templates for the triangles so that meant extra cutting, pressing, and measuring, and marking, but it only had seven seams. Next I'll have to sew borders on all the blocks and put them together in just the right pattern. The fun continues...

Elise's Quilt

I was so happy to give this quilt to Elise. It fits her style and will look great in her room.

Top: Done

Working on Elise's quilt has been fun, not too hard, not too easy. The center is finished and the borders sewn on. There are 17 pieced blocks and 18 fussy-cut flower blocks.

Mark's Quilt

It feels good to finish a project and give it away. Mark was pleased with the quilt and that pleased me!

Elise's Quilt

No, I haven't forgotten Elise's quilt. The top is sewn together. Now I will add a wide border of the flowers. It's really coming together.

A New Challenge

Last Saturday was quilting-with-friends day, so I started to work on my challenge quilt for next fall.
Each block will start out 5 inches by 8. More will be added later to make 10 inch squares. I'm not sure how this one will end up, but it is a challenge to choose different fabrics for each block, cut the tiny pieces, sew them together, and press them flat to the exact dimensions required. In a change from my other quilts, every block in this project will be different. It is also fun to work with a completely different color palette.
